In a significant boost to Liberia’s agricultural development, the JNB Foundation has received a major donation of liquid fertilizer valued at USD $220,000.00, intended to enhance productivity for smallholder farmers across the country. The consignment, a 20-foot container filled with thousands of cartons of liquid fertilizer, was officially received on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Foundation’s headquarters in Rehab, Paynesville. Each carton contains 24 bottles, with a single bottle reportedly capable of fertilizing an entire acre of farmland a potentially transformative input for Liberia’s food production sector. Speaking at the arrival of the shipment, Hon. Jackson K. George, Jr., Executive Director of the JNB Foundation, expressed gratitude to the donors and highlighted the impact the fertilizer is expected to make on the lives of local farmers. “This donation is a game-changer for thousands of Liberian farmers who lack access to affordable, high-quality fertilizer,” Hon. George stated. “It is a direct investment in food security, self-sufficiency, and economic resilience. We are proud to support the national vision for sustainable agriculture.” In alignment with its commitment to equitable development, the JNB Foundation announced that 70 percent of the fertilizer consignment will be turned over to the Ministry of Agriculture for nationwide distribution to farmers across all 15 counties of Liberia. This collaborative approach is intended to ensure that the donation benefits as many farming communities as possible and supports the government’s ongoing agricultural initiatives. While the generous donors behind the consignment have chosen to remain anonymous, their support reflects confidence in the JNB Foundation’s mission and in the broader ARREST Agenda the national development framework being implemented under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung. The ARREST Agenda, which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism, emphasizes the importance of agricultural transformation as a cornerstone of Liberia’s economic recovery and poverty reduction strategy. Hon. George reaffirmed the Foundation’s ongoing role as a strategic partner in development, working hand in hand with government ministries, international partners, and local stakeholders to build capacity and improve livelihoods. “The JNB Foundation will continue to complement the government’s efforts in transforming agriculture from subsistence to sustainability,” he said. “Empowering farmers means feeding the nation, reducing imports, and creating jobs in rural areas.” This latest initiative builds on the Foundation’s history of grassroots engagement and tangible support to communities across Liberia. In the coming weeks, detailed coordination between the JNB Foundation and the Ministry of Agriculture will guide the rollout of the fertilizer distribution, ensuring that the right tools reach the right hands.
