Under a steady downpour and with resolute determination, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP), along with senior members of his team, visited the headquarters of the Liberia Traffic Management (LTM) in Paynesville this morning to assess operational readiness ahead of the official July 12, 2025 rollout of LTM’s national mandate. The visit comes as part of the LNP’s broader efforts to ensure a smooth transition and effective coordination as LTM prepares to assume full responsibility for issuing driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations across the Republic of Liberia. Despite challenging weather conditions, the Inspector General and his team, clad in rain-soaked boots and focused expressions, toured the LTM facility near the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex. They conducted on-the-ground assessments of systems, infrastructure, and staff preparedness, while engaging directly with LTM leadership on the institution’s capacity to deliver essential traffic services to the public. Beginning Saturday, July 12, 2025, all driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations must be obtained exclusively from the Liberia Traffic Management office. The LNP emphasizes that any driving documents issued by other entities after that date will be deemed invalid and subject to enforcement under the law. However, the public is advised that documents lawfully issued prior to July 13 will remain valid until their official expiration date. “This is a defining moment in Liberia’s journey toward safer roads, transparent traffic services, and centralized vehicle management,” said the Inspector General. “We are working closely with LTM to ensure this transition not only meets administrative benchmarks but also protects the interests of all road users.” The LNP is also warning against attempts to bypass the new system through unauthorized channels, stating that any fraudulent activity will be met with swift legal action. The public is therefore urged to visit the LTM headquarters or authorized sub-offices to familiarize themselves with the new procedures and ensure compliance. As the July 13 deadline approaches, the LNP remains committed to public safety, institutional collaboration, and upholding the rule of law.
