Local Authorities Confiscate CHICO Truck

Local authorities in River Gee County have confiscated a truck belonging to the China Henan International Cooperation Group (CHICO), a road construction company operating in the county, for illegally transporting crushed rocks owned by the County. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Sarbo Woffiken town. The truck, bearing plate number H0142, was intercepted and halted by County Engineer Hon. Jerry Sackor and Religious Officer to the Superintendent, Hon. Moses Williams, after it was found transporting a full load of crushed rocks to an unidentified location without the approval of the County Administration. This action comes in the wake of a standing directive from Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe, prohibiting the unauthorized sale or transportation of County-owned resources, including crushed rocks and sand. The directive was issued following multiple complaints from citizens about the ongoing illegal extraction and sale of these resources, which are intended to support public infrastructure projects and benefit the residents of River Gee County. “The County has made it clear that no entity, including CHICO, is permitted to engage in the commercial transaction of resources belonging to the people of River Gee,” said Superintendent Swengbe. “This confiscation is a step in protecting our county’s interests and holding violators accountable.” Upon receiving reports of the violation, Superintendent Swengbe ordered the truck to be parked and remain in Sarbo Woffiken until a full investigation is completed. The truck remains stationary as of today, while county officials conduct a thorough review to determine who authorized the transport and what the intended destination of the materials was. Authorities have emphasized that the County will take all necessary legal measures against any individual or organization found complicit in this illegal activity. The ongoing investigation aims to uphold transparency and safeguard public resources against misuse. River Gee County remains committed to ensuring its development efforts are not undermined by unauthorized commercial exploitation of community assets. The local leadership calls on all residents and contractors to respect county laws and collaborate in the interest of sustainable development.
