NASSCOP Receives Widespread Praise from Beneficiaries for Enhanced Services

The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCOP) has received an outpouring of praise from social security beneficiaries and institutional stakeholders during its 50th-anniversary celebration held in Gbarnga, Bong County. The milestone event highlighted the Corporation’s sustained efforts to improve social protection services across the country, especially under the leadership of Director General Dewitt Vonballmoos. Held on July 10, 2025, the ceremony in Region 5 brought together a wide cross-section of stakeholders, including social security beneficiaries, civil society organizations, healthcare institutions, educational entities, and county officials. Attendees hailed NASSCOP’s enhanced service delivery, regional outreach, and commitment to community engagement. Among the speakers was Santi Sola, Finance Manager of Forunciv Liberia, who thanked NASSCOP Region 5 for its high-quality service and responsiveness to beneficiary needs. “We want to give our sincere thanks to you and your team at NASSCOP Region 5,” Sola remarked. “Your performance here in Bong County far exceeds what we’ve observed in other regions such as Grand Gedeh and Bomi.” Dr. Mennie Sankawolu Ricks, Medical Director at Phebe Hospital, and Silas Tokpah, Bong County Finance Officer, also commended the Corporation for its professionalism and efficiency. Mr. Sam T. G. Siakor, Administrator of the Bong County Health Team, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the positive impact of NASSCOP’s regional presence. Reverend Samuel Paye, founder of the Mount Zion Rescue Mission Orphanage Home, offered heartfelt thanks on behalf of three local orphanages Rainbow Orphanage, Mount Zion Rescue Mission, and Hebrew Children Orphanage Home. He applauded NASSCOP for its recent donation of food and supplies, describing the support as “timely and deeply appreciated by vulnerable children.” The Development Education Network Liberia (DEN-L), Foundation for International Dignity (FIND), and representatives from Cuttington University also participated in the event. FIND acknowledged the strategic importance of NASSCOP’s newly established regional office in Gbarnga, calling it “a game-changer” for accessibility and convenience. DEN-L added its appreciation for the Corporation’s improved infrastructure and the upgraded national headquarters in Sinkor, Monrovia. Marie Blaise, an accountant with Parley Liberia, highlighted the Corporation’s improved administrative systems. “NASSCOP has significantly sped up the process by which beneficiaries receive their receipts and benefits,” she noted. “This kind of efficiency is what citizens expect from public institutions.” A representative from Cuttington University praised NASSCOP for its commitment to professional service and expressed the institution’s willingness to explore future collaboration opportunities. Director General Dewitt Vonballmoos, speaking through a regional delegate, reaffirmed the Corporation’s pledge to strengthen social security service delivery nationwide. He emphasized that the successes in Bong County are part of a broader institutional reform agenda designed to reach every Liberian with dignity and care.
