NEC Commences Candidate Nomination Exercise Ahead of 12 August 2025 By-Election in Nimba County District 5

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially launched a key activity in preparation for the District 5 Representative By-Election in Nimba County, scheduled for Tuesday, 12 August 2025. The Candidate Nomination Exercise, a crucial phase in the electoral process, commenced this week and will continue through Friday, 4 July 2025. The nomination process is being conducted at the James M. Fromoyan Hall, located at the NEC headquarters on 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia, where prospective candidates are submitting required documents and undergoing the necessary verification procedures. On Monday, 23 June, the NEC Board of Commissioners, led by Chairperson Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, held an engagement with members of the media to provide updates and reinforce the Commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible by-election. 

“We want to assure the people of District 5 in Nimba County and the Liberian public that the NEC remains committed to delivering a transparent and trustworthy electoral process,” Chairperson Lansanah stated. “The candidate nomination period is a critical step, and we are working diligently to ensure all procedures are followed in line with Liberia’s electoral laws.” During the media interaction, Chairperson Lansanah highlighted the importance of the candidate nomination exercise as the foundation for a peaceful and inclusive electoral process. She called on all political parties, independent aspirants, and stakeholders to adhere to the Commission’s guidelines and to maintain a spirit of civility throughout the campaign period.
