PRES. BOAKAI TOURS LPRC FACILITY AS LIBERIA ACHIEVES HISTORIC FUEL IMPORT MILESTONE

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., yesterday conducted a guided tour of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) Product Storage Terminal (PST) on Bushrod Island, where he inspected ongoing infrastructure upgrades and witnessed a historic milestone in Liberia’s energy sector. For the first time in nearly four decades, the LPRC has successfully received and begun discharging 10,000 metric tons of gasoline at its newly upgraded storage terminal. An additional shipment of 8,000 metric tons of diesel is expected within the coming days. The President’s visit marked a significant moment in the nation’s efforts to strengthen its fuel security and reduce dependency through enhanced domestic storage capacity and testing capabilities. The LPRC is now in the final stages of completing a state-of-the-art petroleum testing laboratory and additional tank infrastructure that will greatly improve both quality control and national reserve capacity. Speaking during the tour, LPRC Managing Director Amos Tweh credited this achievement to President Boakai’s support and commitment to revitalizing key state institutions. “This milestone would not have been possible without the confidence and leadership of the President, the strategic guidance of our Board, the teamwork of my colleagues, and the dedication of our entire workforce,” the Managing Director noted. He emphasized that while political discourse is natural in a democracy, the work of transforming national institutions must continue. “You can play your politics with the interest and wellbeing of the people in mind but we are not stopping. The ship is sailing.” He said. President Boakai continues to prioritize critical investments in national infrastructure and state-owned enterprises as part of its ARREST Agenda, aimed at delivering sustainable development and improved services to the Liberian people.
