President Boakai Establishes Presidential Task Force in Response to U.S. Concerns--Minister of Foreign Affairs Designated as Co-Chair.

In direct response to a series of wide-ranging concerns raised by the Government of the United States issues which, if left unaddressed, could result in the imposition of a travel ban President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has taken decisive action by establishing a high-level Presidential Task Force. This Task Force will lead a coordinated, cross-sectorial government response aimed at addressing the identified issues with urgency and accountability. Recognizing the inter-agency nature of the concerns, President Boakai will personally chair the Task Force, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs designated as Co-Chair. 

The Task Force brings together key institutions from across government, including: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, Liberia National Police, Office of the National Security Advisor, National Security Agency. The inaugural meeting of the Task Force was held on June 17, 2025, at the Executive Mansion and chaired by President Boakai. Attending the meeting were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Minister of State without Portfolio for Special Services, and the National Security Advisor. Following its initial deliberations, the Task Force adopted a joint multi-sectorial work plan designed to address the U.S. Government’s concerns comprehensively. 

The implementation of this plan will be carried out in close collaboration with U.S. counterparts and will be subject to ongoing monitoring and evaluation to ensure transparency, effectiveness, and tangible results. President Boakai reaffirmed his Administration’s unwavering commitment to good governance, the rule of law, and the strengthening of Liberia’s historic partnership with the United States.
