RESIDENTS OF GRAND KRU COUNTY FROWNS AT LAWMAKERS FOR UNFULFILLED CAMPAIGN PROMISES

The Residents of Grand Kru County specifically Electoral District #2 are said to be living in total regret and feel being neglected by their Senators and the District Representative since their ascendency to leadership of the District and County, as roads in the District are in a deplorable and appalling conditions, especially in Buah, Forpoh, Dorbor and Jrao Districts thus making the movement for commuters difficult. While phoning in on Voice of Grand Kru recently, the Residents have expressed disappointment in their Lawmakers over unfulfilled Campaign promises made in relation to the rehabilitations and construction, including other pressing issues affecting communities within the District. According to the Locals, the decision taken by them to reelect and elect Senator Albert Tugbe Chie, Numene Bartekwa and Representative Fonati Koffa who is currently facing legal trail for alleged multiple charges by police for arson- regrading the burning of the Copital building was in the good interest of the people but they are proving on the opposite. Expressing their over the weekend, citizens voiced strong concerns, accusing their Representatives and Senators of neglecting their responsibilities and prioritizing personal interests over the needs of the people. Key among their concerned is the deplorable condition of roads in the District, particularly in Bolloh, Buah, Forpoh, Dweken amongst others. "Our Lawmakers are not giving key attention to our daily struggles. They only show up during campaign seasons and forget about us afterward," a resident lamented during the radio program. At the same time, Residents of Bolloh Jlateken accused Senator Numene T.H. Bartekwa for failing to fulfill a campaign promise made during the 2023 General Presidential And Legislative Elections. C. Wesseh Blamoh, Chairperson of Team Bartekwa in Bolloh Jlateken, asserted that the Senator pledged during the course of the 2023 election to donate 100 bags of cement for the construction of a City Hall in the community and is yet to be fulfilled. "Since the promise was made, we’ve followed up on several occasions, but there has been no response," Blamoh said. “When you continue to make promises and fail to keep them, people lose trust and respect for you.” Meanwhile, Residents are now calling for accountability and more proactive leadership from their elected officials, emphasizing that continued neglect will no longer be tolerated, promising to remain vocal on issues affecting their wellbeing and development.
