Road Fund Engineers Inspect Progress on Robertsport–Madina Road Project

Monday, June 23, 2025

A team of engineers from the National Road Fund of Liberia (NRF), led by Senior Engineer Mikel Koti, conducted a field visit this week to assess progress on the ongoing construction of the 12-kilometer Robertsport–Madina Road in Grand Cape Mount County. The inspection marks a key phase in ensuring the project stays on schedule and meets national infrastructure standards. The Robertsport–Madina Road project, fully financed by the National Road Fund of Liberia, is part of a broader national effort to improve road connectivity, promote trade, and enhance access to essential services in rural and underserved communities.

During the tour, Engineer Koti and his team inspected various segments of the road, including areas undergoing earthworks, culvert installations, and gravel-laying. The team also engaged with local contractors and community members to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards. “We are pleased with the level of progress so far,” said Mikel Koti. “This road will play a critical role in opening up economic opportunities, facilitating movement between communities, and improving access to healthcare, schools, and markets. It’s a direct investment in the development and stability of Grand Cape Mount.” Local residents and community leaders expressed optimism and appreciation for the project. For many, the new road signifies relief from years of travel hardship, especially during the rainy season when the area becomes nearly impassable.

“When this road is completed, our children can get to school safely, farmers can carry their goods to market, and sick people can reach the hospital faster,” said Fatima Kamara, a resident of Madina. “This road is more than development it’s a lifeline.” The NRF emphasized that infrastructure projects like this are essential for Liberia’s long-term development and reflect the government's commitment to decentralizing road improvements and investing in rural communities. The Robertsport–Madina Road project is expected to be completed by mid-2026, with periodic assessments and monitoring by NRF engineers to ensure timely delivery and adherence to engineering standards. As Liberia continues to rebuild and expand its infrastructure, the National Road Fund remains committed to transparency, accountability, and quality in all its funded projects.
