Sen. Zoe Pennue Commends Min. Giddings for Remarkable Road Improvements in Grand Gedeh

In a powerful and heartfelt statement, Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue praised Minister R. Layfette Giddings, head of the Ministry of Public Works, for the significant transformation of road infrastructure in southeastern Liberia particularly the roads leading to Grand Gedeh County. Speaking during a recent visit to his home county, Senator Pennue remarked: “I served for 19 years, and this is the first time in history that I’ve returned home to Grand Gedeh County without facing road difficulties. The method you’ve used to maintain the southeastern road is truly remarkable. The Unity Party government is working you’re not joking. These two years in power feel like six, given the level of progress. Thank you, Mr. Minister.” The senator’s commendation was met with applause from local residents and stakeholders, who echoed his sentiments and highlighted the positive impact that improved road access has had on trade, healthcare access, education, and overall mobility in the region. Grand Gedeh County, like many southeastern counties, has historically suffered from poor road conditions, especially during the rainy season. Many residents have faced long travel delays, damaged vehicles, and even isolation due to impassable roads. Under the leadership of Minister Giddings and the administration of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the Ministry of Public Works has rolled out an aggressive road maintenance and rehabilitation strategy focused on key economic corridors in the southeast. This includes enhanced grading, drainage systems, and targeted use of durable materials for long-term sustainability. Minister Giddings, in response to the commendation, reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure to all Liberians. “We are simply doing our job to connect Liberia. We are grateful for the recognition and remain focused on ensuring that no county is left behind,” he stated. The public praise from Senator Pennue is being viewed as a strong endorsement of the Unity Party-led government’s performance in its first two years. It reflects growing public confidence in the administration’s ability to deliver on its infrastructure and development promises. As Liberia continues its journey toward inclusive growth and national transformation, the improvements in Grand Gedeh County stand as a testament to what dedicated leadership and strategic investment can achieve.
