As Liberia’s President Joseph Nyuma Boakai continues his official visit to the United States in preparation for the much-anticipated U.S.-Africa Summit, a series of high-level engagements have underscored Liberia’s strong commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic partnerships with the United States. In one of the key pre-summit activities, President Boakai met with Dr. Massad F. Boulous, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President on African Affairs. Their discussions focused on current developments within the U.S. political landscape and Washington’s vision for stronger, mutually beneficial partnerships with Africa. Dr. Boulous emphasized the Biden administration's commitment to elevating relations with the continent, with a specific focus on governance, development, and economic inclusion. President Boakai welcomed the engagement and reiterated Liberia’s readiness to work with the United States on shared strategic goals, especially in the areas of energy, education, health, and infrastructure development. The Liberian leader also received a courtesy visit from Mrs. Paula Michelle White-Cain, Spiritual Advisor to former U.S. President Donald J. Trump. The visit was a reunion of sorts, as Mrs. White-Cain and President Boakai share a longstanding personal relationship, dating back to their first encounter at the 65th National Congressional Prayer Breakfast in 2017. During the meeting, Mrs. White-Cain offered heartfelt prayers and words of encouragement for President Boakai’s leadership and the success of Liberia’s participation in the summit. She expressed admiration for the President’s faith-based approach to governance and encouraged continued collaboration between spiritual leaders and public officials to promote peace, justice, and prosperity. In another significant engagement, President Boakai met with a high-powered delegation from the U.S.-Africa Business Center (USAfBC), led by its President, Mrs. Kendra L. Gaither. The discussions focused on advancing trade and investment opportunities between the United States and Liberia. President Boakai emphasized the importance of private sector engagement in Liberia’s national development agenda and highlighted key investment opportunities in agriculture, tourism, digital technology, and infrastructure. Mrs. Gaither assured the President of the Business Center’s willingness to facilitate deeper commercial ties and to support Liberia in attracting American investors. These series of engagements are part of President Boakai’s broader strategy to elevate Liberia’s profile on the global stage and to forge new pathways for international cooperation and sustainable development. The U.S.-Africa Summit is expected to officially convene on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the White House. President Boakai will join fellow African leaders and U.S. government officials to discuss a wide range of issues, including democratic governance, economic transformation, and global security. Liberia’s delegation, under the President’s leadership, is poised to highlight the country’s democratic progress, investment potential, and vision for inclusive growth. President Boakai’s visit to the United States marks a significant chapter in Liberia-U.S. relations, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to diplomacy, partnership, and prosperity for all.
