VP Koung Extends Condolences to Johnson FamilyGanta, Nimba County

Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, joined hundreds of mourners at the funeral of the late Thomas Quewonkpah Johnson, son of the late Nimba County Senator, Prince Yormie Johnson. The solemn ceremony was held at the Gnassingbe Eyadema Hall on the campus of the PYJ Polytechnic University in Ganta, Nimba County. In heartfelt remarks delivered during the funeral service, Vice President Koung extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved Johnson family, describing the untimely death of Thomas Q. Johnson as a profound shock and a painful loss, not only to the family but also to the Nimba County community and the nation at large. “As we gather to bid farewell to a son, a brother, and a friend, we are reminded of the fragility of life. Thomas was taken far too soon, and our hearts are heavy,” Vice President Koung stated. He further encouraged the family to remain strong, united, and anchored in faith, urging them to draw strength from God and from each other during this difficult time. The funeral service brought together a cross-section of government officials and local leaders, including the Superintendent of Nimba County, Hon. Kou Meapeh Gono, and members of the Nimba County Legislative Caucus, who all came to pay their respects and support the grieving family. Thomas Quewonkpah Johnson passed away in Monrovia on July 9, 2025, following a period of illness. He was laid to rest on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Johnson family compound, beside the grave of his late father, Senator Prince Y. Johnson, on the grounds of the PYJ Polytechnic University. The Office of the Vice President continues to extend prayers for comfort, peace, and healing to the Johnson family during this time of bereavement.
